House Moving is up there alongside divorce, job loss and even bereavement as one of life’s most stressful events. Along with the inevitable red tape and other responsibilities involved in moving, it’s essential to choose a removal company that you can rely upon 100 per cent. That’s where Handy Removals come in. Before you set off organizing your removal, you must get removal quotes and removal company booked. And in order to get accurate quotes, ensure that you spend time creating a list of your household goods. Our removal estimation form will help you out with this task, please feel free to download and use it.
Once you have the movers booked, ensure suitable parking provision is made for our removal van or truck, by:
• Placing cones
• Leaving your car in the parking space until the removal van arrives
• Receiving parking dispensation from your local Council
• Contacting the Police
• Ensure there is access to and from the doorway of your home for the removal vehicle
• In advance, explain to your neighbours that a removal vehicle will be parked outside your home
• Ensure passageways and staircases are left completely clear for our moving team
• Tell us about any internal or external difficulties we may encounter which may require special consideration
During the removal of heavy items, keep children and pets a safe distance from the van and the crew. (Keeps pets on a leash if appropriate).
Labelling boxes
Clearly label all boxes with their contents and the room from which they came.
On boxes that contain breakables, place “FRAGILE” stickers. Also, please neatly stack pictures and mirrors somewhere safe.
Empty and defrost these prior to removal.
These should be disconnected and any contents removed.
To prevent delay, loosen carpets prior to the removal team’s arrival (unless we have agreed to do this for you as part of our service).
Before you move, contact your utility companies (gas, electricity and water) about your vacation of the premises.
Also…
Take down curtains, blinds and items fixed to walls. Empty all wardrobes (including fitted wardrobes). Fold all bedding and linen ready for packing. Dismantle all self-assembly furniture. Box up your stereo, TV, computer, printer… Pack lampshades and plants into boxes (to provide extra protection and to allow the plants to breathe, seal the box with the flaps up).
Before leaving, check all rooms as well as the attic, airing cupboard, garage and shed.

There is a minimum charge of two hours which applies to all jobs. After the first two ours, we increment the price in a half hour base.
The time of the job only starts when the driver arrives to the pickup address, and it stops when we finish the job.

You moved my stuff in the summer and I was delighted with everything. The price was the best I found on the internet and the guys who moved us where fantastic; they were thoughtful, got on with it, all my possessions were well treated. Everton and the other lovely Brazilian man moved all my big stuff (washing machine. massive wardrobes etc…) from a garage in Tottenham to my lovely new house and also picked up sofas, beds from my old flat.
They were unbelievably efficient, pleasant and hard-working. they worked for 3 and a half hours straight, even refusing to stop for a cup of coffee!
I told them then and I tell you now, that was the best £175 I have ever spent. I really fell like i got my money’s worth.

I had hired a van + 2 men last weekend to move houses, and want to say thank you to your staff for various things:
(1) The guy manning the phone was prompt with the info, patiently answered all queries (multiple times that I called), and had a good sense of humour (it helps!).
(2) The van arrived on time, was in good working condition, spacious and clean.
(3) Both the men – Gabriel and Jose – were extremely helpful, well spoken, and pleasant. Accepted our requests, were careful with all the luggage (no hard drops, all boxes remained right side up, nothing heavy put on crockery boxes etc.), and were quick – didn’t waste time and yet were not rushed for the next job (despite the traffic).
(4) There were no hidden charges and we were given a receipt, all the stuff was transferred from room to room, and we were able to travel in the van.
Overall a very good end-to-end service. Would highly recommend.
